Dr. Shamsun Nahar Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy has been awarded the “First Atta-ur-Rahman Prize” by TWAS founded by Nobel Laureate Professor Abdus Salam in Trieste, Itlay. The prize is announced at the TWAS 23rd General Meeting in Tianjin (China). Dr. Khan was honored for her work on enzyme identification and inhibition, cutting-edge research on the borders of chemistry and biology. |

| Independence Day |
East West University MBA Club observed the Independence Day by paying homage to freedom fighters and millions of people who sacrificed their lives for freedom. The club published a Lobby Display titled ‘Arunodoyer Agniprohor’ and organized a cultural program. The cover of the lobby display was opened by Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, President, Board of Trustees and Founder Vice-Chancellor of EWU at 6:30 am. Prof. Ahmed Shafee, Vice Chancellor, was also present. The three-dimensional display contains a series of photographs that captured the historical evidences of the fateful night of 25th March, 1971 and the dawn of our freedom fight on 26th March - the day of declaration of our independence. |

| EWU Photography Club member Success at Samsung CTIT photo competition 2013 |
Samsung with BCS computer city jointly organized digital photo competition ‘City Fair 2013’ for the fourth time. In this competition . This year number of selected photographers in Samsung city IT Photo Contest were 34 and among them 8 were from our East West University Photography club(EWUPC), which is the highest number of participation from a club. Riaz Mahmud Bhuiyan of EWUPC won the first prize . Two other members from EWUPC Samiul Ahsan and Hasnur Rakib won special awards. |

The East West University MBA Club organized a seminar on Monetary Policy Formulation & Implementation in Bangladesh - Recent Experiences on Sunday March 24, 2013 at 6:45 pm at the Teachers' Lounge of EWU. Professor Abdul Bayes, Ex-Vice Chancellor and Professor of Economics, Jahangirnagar University and Professor Habibullah Bahar, Agrani Bank Chair Professor, BIBM talked on monetary policy practices in Bangladesh. Their scholarly deliberations enlightened the audience on this very important dimension of Bangladesh economy. There were a significant number of students from the graduate program who took keen interest and participated in the question-answer session enthusiastically. |

| Celebration of Pohela Boishakh by MBA Club |
The MBA Club joined the EWU festivity for welcoming Bangla New Year 1420 in a colourful manner. The Club had its own stall in the fair having unique attraction to the passersby. The members of the MBA Club worked hard to decorate the stall and collect food and other items for selling. The unique feature of the stall was-in a corner one person kept open a halkhata, a ritual of Pohela Boishakh, for visitors to put their comments. Members also joined the colourful Boishakhi procession with other club members. |
