Degree Requirements

Candidates for the M.S. degree in Applied Physics & Electronics must successfully complete minimum of 35 credit hours. There are two streams of the program; a student should follow one of them:

 

Stream 1:  M.S. by Course Work

Total 35 Credit Hours (minimum); Students of stream 1 must take the

following courses:

 

(a)      Core Modules (18 Credits); these courses are compulsory.

Courses APE 511, APE 513, APE 515, APE 517, and APE 519 as described in subsection A.

(b)      Elective Modules (17 Credits)

Any two courses (8 credits) from Group-I and three courses (9 credits) from Group-II described in subsection B.

 

Stream 2:  M.S. by Course and a Research Project

Total 35 Credit Hours (minimum); Students of stream 2 must take the

following courses:

 

(a)      Core Modules (18 Credits); these courses are compulsory.

Courses APE 511, APE 513, APE 515, APE 517, APE 519 as described in subsection A.

 

(b)       Elective Modules (11 Credits)

Any two courses (8 credits) from Group-I and any one course (3 credits) from Group-II described in subsection B.

(c)       Research Project (6 Credits)

APE 598 described in subsection C.

B. List of Elective/Optional Courses

The Elective/Optional courses are classified into two Groups (GROUP-I and GROUP-II). Courses in GROUP-I are four-credit courses with Lab and courses in GROUP-II are three-credit courses without Lab. A student of Stream-1 will have to take two courses (8 credits) from GROUP-I and three courses (9 credits) from GROUP-II while a student of Stream-2 will have to take two courses (8 credits) from GROUP-I and one course (3 credits) from GROUP-II.
