News  CSE Department organizes Orientation

East West University Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an orientation program for newly admitted undergraduate students on 31 October 2011.

Professor Ahmed Shafee, Vice Chancellor of EWU, was present as the chief guest of this program, while Mr. A. K. Sabbir Mahbub, Managing Director, Devnet Ltd and Director of BASIS, was the special guest. Prof. Chowdhury Faiz Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Prof. Mozammel Huq Azad Khan, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Dr. M. Ameer Ali, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Engineering were also present in this program.

The first phase of the program started with citation of the holy Quran followed by a video clip of the departmental activities. In his speech, the special guest told the newly admitted students that national and international job markets have demands for CSE graduates, and therefore students need to concentrate on this discipline for their careers. Vice Chancellor Professor Shafee also emphasized the need to develop the aspirations of the students to study CSE related education like programming, solving problems and software development. He remarked that EWU students were meritorious and with good guidance should be able to reach the top.

Professor M. H. Azad Khan said that East West University is one of the best universities in Bangladesh among both public and private universities where 50% teaching staff of the Department of CSE are PhD degree holders. Due to the huge requirement of CSE graduates, Dr. M. Ameer Ali reiterated “be CSE graduates, make your family, your society, and your country full of CSE graduates so that we can move towards building our country free from corruption”.

In the second stage of the program, drama, dances and songs were presented as recreational activities.
