EWU Student’s Startup 'MatiPlus' Secures 1st Runner-Up Position at Creaventure 4.0
In a spectacular showcase of innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurial spirit, Team MatiPlus, representing East West University (EWU), has secured the prestigious 1st Runner-up position at the grand finale of "Akij Resource Presents Creaventure 4.0: National Idea Pitching Competition."
The grand finale was held on July 11, 2026, at the Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre. The competitive national event was organized by the Dhaka University Entrepreneurship Development Club (DUEDC), powered by Shwapno, and held in association with CFMOTO Bangladesh.
Creaventure 4.0 witnessed an overwhelming nationwide response this year, drawing 1,066 participants across 348 teams from 62 districts in Bangladesh. Through a grueling assessment process spanning an online submission round, quarter-finals, and semi-finals, only the top 8 finalist teams were selected from the initial pool to pitch at the grand finale. Among these elite finalists, Md. Sadik Jamal Kowshik, a student from the Department of Civil Engineering at East West University, championed the cause as the CEO of the startup, leading Team MatiPlus to their podium finish.
MatiPlus stood out to the judges and industry leaders for its impactful circular economy initiative. The startup focuses on a highly critical environmental issue: transforming city sewage sludge into organic fertilizer. By converting urban waste into a valuable agricultural resource, MatiPlus addresses urban pollution while simultaneously enhancing sustainable soil health and boosting agricultural productivity. The project was highly lauded for its direct alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), proving that EWU students are at the forefront of tackling pressing socio-environmental challenges. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of East West University, extended his warmest congratulations to Md. Sadik Jamal Kowshik and Team MatiPlus for this monumental achievement.
