Nabila Farhin, Senior Lecturer of The Department of Law, Completes International Labour Standards Academy at ITCILO, Turin

Ms. Nabila Farhin, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Law at East West University, has completed the International Labour Standards (ILS) Academy, a distinguished global training program jointly organised by the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO) and the International Labour Standards Department (NORMES) of the International Labour Office. The Academy was conducted from May 12 to 30, 2025, in a blended format, commencing with two weeks of online learning followed by a week-long residential session at the ITCILO campus in Turin, Italy.
Ms. Farhin was selected to participate in Track 2 of the Academy, which was tailored for judges, lawyers, and academics. Her participation was supported by a fellowship awarded to eligible candidates from selected countries. This specialised track focused on the practical application and judicial interpretation of international labour standards within national legal systems. The 40-hour interactive course brought together participants from diverse professional backgrounds from different countries.
The programme featured expert-led masterclasses and practical sessions on the ILS system, its supervisory mechanisms, and the use of legal tools and databases. The classes also covered current challenges in the world of work, including decent work in the platform economy, biological hazard protection, and employment injury systems.
Ms. Farhin’s engagement in this global platform reflects East West University's growing emphasis on international collaboration, legal education, and rights-based approaches to labour law. The experience and learning will strengthen her teaching and research on the application of ILS within national legal frameworks.
