East West University Center for Research and Training Hosts Seminar on Coastal Migration

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) hosted a research seminar on 20 August 2025 titled “Leveraging Social Capital and Migration Strategies in Coastal Bangladesh.” The event was held at the EWUCRT Seminar Room on the campus of East West University (EWU).
The seminar featured a research proposal presented by Ms. Sadia Binta Zaman, a lecturer, and Dr. Muhammad Rehan Masoom, an associate professor, both from EWU’s Department of Sociology. The proposal was co-authored by their colleagues, Dr. Fouzia Mannan, Professor, and Mr. Ishtiaq Mohammod Fakhruddin, Lecturer. The presentation provided valuable insights into the social dynamics and strategic decisions influencing migration patterns in the coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Following the presentation, Dr. Md. Sanaul Haque Mondal, an assistant professor in the Department of Social Relations at EWU, served as the key discussant, providing thoughtful commentary on the research. The session also included an interactive question-and-answer segment where faculty members engaged with the presenters. The seminar was chaired by Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Chairperson of the EWUCRT. Professor Dr. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of EWUCRT, along with faculty members, students, and officials from EWUCRT, also participated in the seminar.
