The Faculty of Sciences and Engineering (FSE) of East West University (EWU) successfully organized the Faculty Retreat 2026 on January 17, 2026, at the BRAC Centre for Development Management (CDM), Savar. The day-long program aimed to strengthen academic vision, enhance strategic planning, and foster meaningful inter-departmental collaboration in a congenial and inspiring environment.
The retreat began with a group photograph, followed by a networking breakfast and tea session, providing faculty members with an informal platform to reconnect, exchange ideas, and strengthen professional bonds.
The formal inauguration was graced by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, following welcome addresses by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, and the Treasurer, Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of FSE, Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, expressed sincere gratitude to the EWU Board of Trustees for approving and supporting this important initiative. Each department presented comprehensive reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and strategic future plans. The sessions were followed by interactive question-and-answer segments, where faculty members actively shared constructive feedback and forward-looking recommendations.
A major highlight of the retreat was the reflective discussion on departmental self-assessments based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Through open dialogue and collective reflection, departments gained clearer insights into their strengths, areas for improvement, and practical pathways for sustainable progress. This session marked a significant milestone in FSE’s ongoing journey toward quality enhancement and academic excellence.
The program concluded with a vibrant cultural segment featuring songs and poetry performed by faculty members, followed by a raffle draw and prize distribution. The segment added warmth, energy, and a celebratory spirit to the event.
The thoughtful contributions during discussion sessions and enthusiastic participation in both interactive and cultural activities greatly enriched the retreat experience. The spirit of togetherness, open conversations, shared laughter, music, and poetry created lasting memories. Close engagement between faculty members and university leadership made the retreat particularly meaningful.
