EWU Law Department Shines at the International Conference on Evolving Refugee Protection Architectures in South Asia 2026 (ICERPASA 2026)
The Department of Law, East West University (EWU) delivered an outstanding performance at the International Conference on Evolving Refugee Protection Architectures in South Asia 2026 (ICERPASA 2026), held on 27 June 2026 at the Department of Law, University of Chittagong. The conference was organized by the Department of Law, University of Chittagong (HEAT Project, PIN-12211) in collaboration with the Bangladesh Center for Refugee Law Studies (BCRLS), with the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) serving as the strategic partner.
The conference featured two major academic segments—Paper Presentation and Poster Presentation—bringing together scholars, academics, practitioners, and students from across Bangladesh and abroad.
In the Paper Presentation segment, Ms. Oishe Rahman and Mr. Shaikh Mirazur Rahman, both faculty members of the Department of Law, East West University, presented their research papers.
Adding to the department's achievement, Ms. Oishe Rahman, Lecturer dept. of law, was honored with the “Best Paper Award” for her outstanding paper presentation in Session 4 titled Refugee Status Determination (RSD) Without a National Asylum System, Including Statelessness & Legal Recognition Gaps.
The Department was also proudly represented by Radia Nowsin, a student of the Department of Law, East West University, who presented her research paper. Furthermore, two distinguished alumni of EWUDOL—Md. Banyamin Abdullah and Kaushik Dutta also presented their joint research paper.
EWU also achieved remarkable success in the Poster Presentation segment. In Panel 2, Tanjim Maliha received the Outstanding Poster Award, and Kazi Ayman Awsaf earned Honourable Mention for their poster presentation. In Panel 1, Samiatul Islam awarded with the Best Poster Award. In addition, poster presentations by Sadia Rahman Ritu and Muhfiqur Rahman were selected among the 20 accepted posters presented at the conference.
