Mahadi Hasan Saiem from East West University participated in the 'VisaThing Bangla Channel Swim-2023.'

The Bangla Channel refers to the 16.1 km course of the International Bangla Channel Marathon Swim, spanning from mainland Bangladesh (Teknaf) to St. Martin's Island in the Bay of Bengal.

Mahadi Hasan Saiem from the department of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology has shared his experience of successfully crossing the Bangla Channel for the second time.

“The initial achievement occurred in 2020, where I completed the swim in 5 hours and 00 minutes. In 2023, I took on the challenge once again, with the backing of my university, East West University. They provided support and encouragement for this daring feat. This year's journey across the Bangla Channel was a testament to perseverance and determination. The university's encouragement played a crucial role, pushing me to go beyond my limits. It took me 4 hours and 34 minutes to conquer the Bangla Channel, marking a personal improvement from my previous attempt. The experience was not just a physical accomplishment but also a mental and emotional triumph, showcasing the resilience and strength that lies within. The support from East West University added a meaningful layer to this challenging yet rewarding adventure.”
