Team 3 Zero from East West University Secures 1st Runner-Up in National Climate Policy Case Competition

Team 3 Zero, representing the Department of Civil Engineering, East West University, has proudly achieved the 1st Runner-Up position in the Climate Policy Case Competition 2025, organized by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) in collaboration with the Embassy of Denmark.

The national-level competition was held in two rounds. In the first round, 45 teams from universities across Bangladesh participated. From them, only five finalist teams were selected for the grand finale, representing institutions such as the University of Dhaka, Jagannath University, BRAC University, and Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT).

Team 3 Zero, consisting of Md. Sadik Jamal Kowshik, Md. Tanvir Alam, and Amlan Deb Nath, represented East West University and stood out among the finalists with their innovative policy proposal titled “Heat Resilient Dhaka: The Cool Path Initiative.” Their proposal focused on addressing Dhaka’s growing urban heat stress through sustainable infrastructure planning, climate-smart governance, and community-driven adaptation measures.

Only two awards were presented in the competition — Champion and 1st Runner-Up — where Team 3 Zero proudly secured the 1st Runner-Up position.

The award was presented by Mr. Anders B. Karlsen, Deputy Head of the Embassy of Denmark, and Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Executive Director of CPD.

This achievement highlights the commitment and creativity of East West University’s young engineers in driving forward climate-resilient and sustainable policy innovations for Bangladesh’s urban future.
