- 1997—2001, B.S. in Economics, North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh
I am an Associate Professor at East West University (EWU) and the Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC). My academic background is in economics, with a particular focus on environmental and resource economics. I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wyoming, USA, where my research centered on building a General Equilibrium Ecosystem Model (GEEM) for studying the tradeoff between multiple ecosystem services in the western US rangelands. Prior to that, I obtained a BS in Economics degree from North South University, Bangladesh.
Throughout my career, I have been interested in applying economic principles to address environmental challenges, particularly in the areas of biodiversity, ecosystem services, and the economic impacts of climate change. My research has been published in journals such as the American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE) and the Ecological Economics. I have also worked on economic impact assessment for development projects with organizations such as the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank, and Oxfam in Bangladesh.
At EWU, I usually teach courses in mathematical economics, microeconomic theory, and environmental and resource economics both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Prior to joining EWU, I worked as a Senior Researcher and Lecturer in Environmental Economics and Resource Management at the University of Freiburg, Germany.
