Being awarded the prestigious HKPFS by RGC of Hong Kong, at present Rasel Hussain is a DPhil researcher at Lingnan University, Tuen Mun, Hong Kong and he is also serving as a academic Staff at the Department of Sociology and Social Policy. He is also the Senior Lecturer at East West University in the Department of Sociology. He used to work as a Founding Moderator of the East West University Sociology Club. Earlier he was working as a Consultant of REACH, University of Oxford and Coventry University, the United Kingdom from April 2018- March 2019. Before that, he was teaching at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) and Asian University Bangladesh (AUB) as a faculty of Sociology. Rasel Hussain Completed Master of Social Sciences (MSS) and Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) in Sociology from the discipline of Sociology, University of Dhaka.
He developed his expertise in the field of Urban Sociology, Demography, Gender studies, and Gerontology. His research interest falls in the arenas of Urban Economy, crime, hazards, violence, poverty and marginality, Poverty and Gender studies, Demography and Gerontology and so on. He had handful of experiences about field research in connection with different INGO’s and NGO’s including icddr,b, Unicef, Save the Children, Nielsen, Plan International, Ministry of Health, University Grant Commission(UGC), Bangladesh Medical Research Council(BMRC) and so on and thus gathered experience in both quantitative and qualitative research.
Mr. Hussain published his research articles from the reputed journal at home and abroad. He also participated in different national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, and pieces of training including Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Vietnam, India, Bhutan and so on. Currently, he is doing his research on information based economy, Masculinity and suicide in the context of South Asian Societies. His academic credentials, research experiences, pieces of training, ICT literacy and other extra-curricular activities fully demonstrate his candidature to be a lifetime student of Sociology to serve the nation and as a Researcher to promote the earth for sustainable development.
