Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC presents NatEcon 2.0 – Envision. Innovate. Exhibit

NatEcon 2.0, sponsored by Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. and organized by the East West University Economics Club, celebrated the club’s 10th anniversary with a grand cultural evening and the inauguration of the event on 20th February 2025. Registrations began on 28th February 2025 online and 2nd March 2025 offline, closing on 10th March 2025. The event featured three major segments: EconoVision (a policy-making competition), Startup Catalyst (a business idea generation competition), and Brain Brawl (an economics quiz competition).
Econo Vision saw 111 teams from 26 universities; 76 teams submitted Case 1, 30 advanced to Case 2, and 8 teams reached the Final Round. Startup Catalyst recorded 81 registrations (62 university, 19 college teams), with 52 and 16 submissions respectively; 20 university and 10 college teams qualified for Round 2. 6 teams from university level and 5 teams from college level advanced to the Final Round. Brain Brawl attracted 201 students from 36 colleges, featuring a written test and buzzer round.
Final rounds of EconoVision and Startup Catalyst were held on 22nd April 2025. The Prize Giving and Closing Ceremony took place on 24th April 2025. The event was presided over by Professor Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of East West University. The Chief Guest was Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. The Special Guests were Dr. A. K. Enamul Haque, Professor, Department of Economics, East West University, and Director General, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), Shahid Ahmed Abdullah, Executive Director, Electra International Limited. Additionally, the program was graced by Retired Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, East West University Ismat Shireen, Advisor, Student Welfare Department and Head, Career Counseling Center Dr. Muntasir Chowdhury, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of Economics, East West University
Through this event, University and College students from all over Bangladesh gained firsthand experience in teamwork and coordination. They also had the opportunity to develop social and public speaking skills through active engagement and presentations. College students got to engage with university standards, which enriched their knowledge.
Esteemed judges from East West University, IDLC Finance Limited, and SAJIDA Foundation evaluated the competitions, maintaining a high standard of judging throughout the event.
