Orientation Program for the Newly Recruited Faculty Members, Spring 2026

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of East West University (EWU) organized a day-long Orientation Program on 24 January 2026 for the newly recruited faculty members who joined during the Spring 2026 semester. Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU and Founder Vice Chancellor, EWU attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, while Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU present as the special guest.
The orientation program began with a welcome address by the IQAC Additional Director, Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, who also introduced the new faculty members to the esteemed guests.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin shared the university’s long-term vision, centered on a commitment to holistic future growth and academic excellence. He elaborated the university’s aim to elevate teaching, learning, and research. He also emphasized the crucial role of faculty members in mentoring and guiding students, supporting their personal and professional growth, and shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU highlighted the university’s unwavering dedication to research, quality teaching, and maintaining a global academic standard. He explained that the university is continuously enhancing its academic programs, strengthening research activities, and embracing modern teaching methods to ensure that students receive an internationally competitive education.
Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor, Chairpersons of Academic Department, Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, EWU attended the inaugural ceremony.
A panel discussion led by Professor Dr. Anup Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics; Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering; and Professor Dr. Farzana Akhter, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences covered the rules and regulations, code of conduct, promotion procedure, and teaching practices at EWU. The newly recruited faculty members actively participated in an interactive Q&A session.
In the second session, the topic “Outcomes-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL)” was discussed by Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, and Additional Director, IQAC, EWU. Professor Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Chairperson, Department of Business Administration gave a talk on “Teaching as a Career: Planning, Survival and Growing” and Dr. Abul H. M. G. Azam, Professor-Cum-Adviser, Department of Business Administration shared his expertise on “Quality Assurance in Higher Education” with the participants.
A total of fifteen new faculty members from various departments attended the program. Ms. Proma Paromita Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics anchored the program. Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, the Additional Director of the IQAC, facilitated the orientation program and delivered a vote of thanks.
