Orientation Program for New Faculty Members

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of East West University (EWU) organized a day-long Orientation Program on 11 October 2025, for the newly recruited faculty members who joined in the Fall 2025 semester. Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU attended the program as the chief guest.
The orientation program began with a welcome address by Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, Additional Director, IQAC, who also introduced the new faculty members to the esteemed guests.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashik Mosaddik congratulated the recently recruited faculty members and wished them a warm welcome to East West University. He emphasized contemporary teaching approaches and said that education is about encouraging curiosity and lifelong learning in addition to disseminating knowledge. He also mentioned that attitude and commitment of a faculty member will shape not only the students’ education but also their values and confidence for the future.
Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, and Professor Dr. Anup Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics led a panel discussion that addressed the academic policies, code of conduct, service rules, promotion procedure, and teaching learning methods of EWU. The participants enthusiastically participated in an interactive Q&A session.
Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering and Additional Director of IQAC, gave a talk on “Outcomes-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL)”. Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor, EWU and Professor Dr. Shamim H. Ripon from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at EWU, shared their expertise on “Teaching as a Career: Planning, Survival and Growing” and “Quality Assurance in Higher Education” with the participants.
The program was attended by twenty-three new faculty members from different departments. With a vote of gratitude, IQAC Additional Director Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon ended the program. For making the event a success, Dr. Barmon thanked the Pro-Vice Chancellor, all of the Deans, Chairpersons, speakers, and newly faculty members. The participants also expressed gratitude to IQAC and EWU authority for organizing the orientation program.
