A Day-long ‘Job Fair’ held at East West University

East West University (EWU) organized a day-long 'Job Fair and Career Search' program at the University premises at Aftabnagar, Dhaka on 10 February 2024. A total number of 87 renowned national and multinational companies including Banks, NGOs, Telecoms, RMGs, Beverage, Electronics, Software Companies, Financial Institutions, Non-profit Organizations, Pharmaceuticals, HR professional training institutes and such participated in the fair.  The ceremony was graced by Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU and Chairman of Apex Group, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser of EWU and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Stephen F. Ibelli, Public Affairs Counselor of the US Embassy in Bangladesh, Professor Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor, EWU, and Professor Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Chairperson, Department of Business Administration, EWU. On this occasion, the speakers appreciated the organizers for organizing such a beautiful event as this Job Fair at EWU campus.  

In his speech as Chief Guest, Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU, remarked that this kind of fair will establish a link between industry and academia which will be beneficial for both parties. He added that students will also get the opportunity to apply for jobs to various corporate organizations under one umbrella. Besides, they can prepare themselves according to the requirements of the recruiters. 

In his concluding remarks, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser and Founder Vice Chancellor of the university explained the way East West University has been blending Western innovation with Eastern values. He also highlighted the idea that there would be an incubator in academia where the investors can conceive and nurse the product as they require in the industries.   

Mr. Stephen F. Ibelli informed the ceremony that the enrollment rate of Bangladeshi students in the United States has tripled in the last decade, and that they are happy with the contributions of these students. He urged them to apply more for jobs in the US embassy as well as other institutions associated with the United States.  

Professor Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor, EWU, thanked all the participants of the fair and showed his keen interest in arranging this type of event at EWU on a regular basis.

Apart from the guests, members of the board of trustees of EWU, faculty members, officials, and personnel of various corporate organizations were present at the ceremony. More than 3000 graduates participated in the day-long ‘Job Fair and Career Search’ program.
