Department of Information Studies Celebrates "Pitha Utsob"

Jan 28, 2026

The Department of Information Studies at East West University (EWU) hosted a vibrant "Pitha Utsob" (a traditional cake festival) on January 28, 2026, in the university's journal room. This event offered a wonderful opportunity for the EWU community to celebrate Bangladeshi culture, traditions, and values.

The festivities were honored by the presence of Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of EWU. Other dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor; Air Commodore (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer; and Professor Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson of the Department of Information Studies.

The colorful program attracted many attendees, including section heads, faculty members, officers, staff, and, most importantly, students, all of whom enjoyed a lively and festive atmosphere. Guests had the opportunity to sample a diverse array of traditional pithas, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Bangladesh. Students from the Department of Information Studies set up a stall to display a variety of colorful pithas. The "Pitha Utsob" served as a platform for cultural exchange and community bonding, further strengthening the spirit of unity within the EWU family.
