East West University and BIDS Sign MoU to Advance Academic and Research Collaboration in Economics

The Department of Economics at East West University (EWU) and the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership for fostering academic excellence and development research in Bangladesh.

The signing ceremony was held at the Board Room of East West University on 13 August 2026 in Aftabnagar, Dhaka. This agreement provides a formal framework for joint research initiatives, high-level policy dialogues, capacity-building programs, collaborative seminars, and interactive academic exchanges designed to address key economic and social development challenges facing the nation. The MoU was officially signed on behalf of East West University by Dr. Iftekharul Huq, Chairperson of the Department of Economics, and on behalf of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies by Mr. Subash Chandra Saha, Secretary (acting) of BIDS.

The solemn ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU, Professor Dr. Md. Shams-ur Rahman, Vice Chancellor, EWU, Professor Dr. A. K. Enamul Haque, Director General, BIDS, Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor, EWU, Air Cdre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury (Retd.), Treasurer, EWU; and the senior faculty members from the Department of Economics, EWU.
