The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized a research seminar on the topic “Determinants of Research Productivity of University Teachers in Bangladesh” at the EWUCRT Seminar Room on 10 September 2025. The research proposal was presented by Dr. Md. Nazmul Hoque, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Pooja Agnes Gomes, Lecturer, both from the Department of Economics, East West University (EWU). The proposal was jointly developed with Dr. A.M. Tanvir Hussain, Associate Professor of the same department.

Following the presentation, Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, served as the key discussant. He provided an in-depth analysis of the research proposal, highlighting both its academic consistency and its practical relevance for higher educational institutions in Bangladesh. Dr. Shams Rahman encouraged the researchers to further expand their study by incorporating comparative perspectives and suggested ways to strengthen the research. The seminar also featured an engaging question-and-answer session, where faculty members actively interacted with the presenters.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Founder Vice Chancellor of EWU as well as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, provided his valuable perspectives on the significance of the study. He praised the initiative of faculty members in taking up such a timely and nationally significant research topic. The event was chaired by Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Chairperson of EWUCRT, while Professor Dr. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of EWUCRT, delivered the welcome remarks. Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor of EWU, faculty members, students, and officials from EWUCRT were also present at the seminar.

The seminar highlighted the importance of advancing research culture in Bangladesh and emphasized the critical role of university teachers in enhancing the nation’s academic and intellectual contributions.
