East West University Commemorates the July Uprising with a Patriotic Musical Tribute and Photo Exhibition

Aug 06, 2026

East West University (EWU) hosted a solemn commemorative event on August 6, 2026, to honor the spirit, courage, and sacrifices of those involved in the historic July Uprising of 2024. The event was organized by the East West University Club for Performing Arts (ECPA).

The program began with a welcome address by Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of EWU, who emphasized the importance of remembering the legacy of the movement. Following his remarks, the audience participated in a collective rendition of the national anthem, "Amar Shonar Bangla." This was followed by a powerful choral performance by ECPA members and attendees, featuring inspiring patriotic songs dedicated to the heroes of the 2024 movement. In addition to the musical tributes, a photo exhibition was displayed along the campus corridors, showcasing defining moments and stories from the July Uprising. The photos were taken by students from EWU.

The event was attended by distinguished leaders, including Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founding Vice-Chancellor of EWU; Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor; and Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer. Deans, faculty members, administrative officers, and students were also present to commemorate this significant occasion.
