East West University Hosts the Third "Dhaka China Day" Celebrating China-Bangladesh Cultural and Academic Ties

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China and East West University (EWU) hosted the third edition of "Dhaka-China Day" on 24 September 2026 at the EWU premises. The event flourished as a platform for cultural, educational, and bilateral exchanges between China and Bangladesh.
The grand inauguration ceremony took place at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium of East West University. The event was jointly inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Yao Wen, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bangladesh; A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon, Honorable Education Minister of Bangladesh; Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of East West University; and Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of East West University. During the opening session, the distinguished guests addressed the gathering, emphasizing the long-standing friendship and deepening collaboration between China and Bangladesh across education, culture, and economic sectors.
Ambassador Yao Wen underscored the vital role of academic and cultural partnerships in fostering mutual understanding among youth, while Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon commended the Third “Dhaka-China Day” at East West University as another milestone in strengthening the friendly ties and people-to-people connections between the two countries. In his speech, the education minister praised East West University’s scholarship initiatives, noting that supporting one in every five students through scholarships represents a significant contribution to education. Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shams Rahman highlighted EWU’s commitment to providing a global education environment and fostering international friendships.
The day-long celebration featured vibrant stalls displaying traditional Chinese artifacts, handicrafts, calligraphy, interactive displays, and culinary delights. The event concluded with a captivating outdoor cultural performance by a professional Chinese dance troupe, featuring dynamic music, dance, and artistic presentations that delighted and mesmerized the audience.
