East West University Organized a Seminar on "Current and Future Trends in Astronomy"

East West University (EWU) has organized a captivating seminar titled "Current and Future Trends in Astronomy" at the SM Nowsher Ali Lecture Gallery on 24 July 2025. The event brought together leading experts, and enthusiastic students to explore the dynamic landscape of astronomical discoveries and future possibilities.

The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Moshurul Amin, Chair of the Bangladesh Astronomical Association. Mr. Amin underscored the increasing interest and vital importance of astronomical studies within Bangladesh, setting an inspiring tone for the afternoon's discussions.

The seminar's focal point was the highly anticipated keynote speech delivered by Professor Michael Gavrilov, Chair of the International Astronomical Olympiad Committee. Professor Gavrilov captivated the audience with his insightful presentation, offering a comprehensive journey through the history of astronomy, from Ptolemy to Copernicus, and delving into fascinating discussions about the Sun, Moon, Earth, and numerous other facets of the field. His profound expertise provided a global perspective on ongoing discoveries and the exciting future trajectory of space exploration.

Following the keynote address, an interactive Question and Answer session allowed attendees to engage directly with Professor Gavrilov. 

The seminar concluded with a closing speech by Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of East West University. Professor Rahman extended his congratulations to the keynote speaker and commended the students for their active participation in the Q&A session. He emphasized EWU's unwavering commitment to promoting scientific knowledge and research, underscoring the profound significance of such events in inspiring the next generation of scientists and astronomers.

The seminar was attended by Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik and other distinguished dignitaries, and students of EWU.
