EWU-CRT Hosts a Seminar on "Use and Abuse of Statistics"

East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized a knowledge-sharing seminar titled “Use and Abuse of Statistics” on 08 February 2024 at the EWUCRT Seminar Room of East West University (EWU). The seminar presenter was Professor Dr. Rahmatullah Imon, Professor Emeritus of Statistics, Ball State University, USA. Professor Imon is a renowned figure in the field of statistics, recognized for his extensive research contributions and academic expertise. During his presentation, Professor Imon explained the principles of statistical analysis and emphasized the critical importance of integrity, accuracy, and transparency in the interpretation of statistical data. He addressed prevalent issues such as biased sampling, misrepresentation of findings, and the misuse of statistical techniques, offering valuable insights into identifying and mitigating these challenges.

The seminar also facilitated engaging discussions and interactive sessions, allowing participants to exchange perspectives, share experiences, and explore practical strategies for ensuring the ethical application of statistical methods across various domains.

The knowledge-sharing seminar was conducted by Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Chairperson, EWUCRT.  The seminar concluded with a note of appreciation to Professor Dr. Rahmatullah Imon for his insightful presentation and to all participants for their active participation and enthusiasm.
