East West University Successfully Arranges a Day-Long Job Fair 2025

Nov 15, 2025

East West University (EWU) hosted a day-long ‘Job Fair’ on 15 November 2025, connecting thousands of aspiring graduates with 70 leading national and multinational organizations. The event was inaugurated by Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources at the EWU campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka. In his address, Mr. Khan called on the youths to enter politics, stressing the critical need for ethical leadership. "There is a need for honest people in the politics of Bangladesh. I urge honest individuals to build their careers in politics," said Mr. Khan. He also advised students to focus on innovation and entrepreneurship rather than solely pursuing job opportunities. Stating that global demand has shifted: "The demand for skillness is increasing than the degrees. What I can do is more important than the degree I have achieved." He called on young people to generate wealth through production and innovation rather than lobbying or pursuing undue advantage. Barrister Nihad Kabir, Former President of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI), Dhaka, and Special Guest at the event, highlighted the fair’s value, calling it a "great opportunity" for students to choose their desired career paths and learn details about their preferred organizations, as well as the opportunity for the employers too.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (EWU) and former Governor of the Bangladesh Bank, emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship for national development. He asserted that the government should prioritize creating and nurturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to reduce poverty and inequality in the country. Dr. Farashuddin suggested creating three million small entrepreneurs, providing them with training and low-interest or Islamic Mudāraba method loans to boost national production and employment. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, stated that the 'Job Fair' is organized to establish a vital link between industry and academia. He noted that at the job fair, students are not only applying to their preferred organizations, but organizations are also able to find their preferred graduates.

A total of 70 companies, including banks, NGOs, telecom operators, RMG, beverage, electronics, software companies, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, pharmaceuticals, and HR professional training institutions, participated in the event, providing a wide array of career opportunities for EWU students and alumni.   Apart from the guests, members of the board of trustees of EWU, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Deans, faculty members, officials, and personnel of various corporate organizations were present at the ceremony.
