EWU Organized a Special Orientation program for the New Students

East West University (EWU) organized an orientation program for the newly admitted students of the Spring Semester 2026 at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium on 22 January 2026, at its campus, Aftabnagar, Dhaka. The event, designed to integrate freshers into the university’s academic culture, code of conduct, rules and regulations, facilities, etc. 

The first session was dedicated to students from the Faculty of Business & Economics and the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences. The program began with an informative presentation on the Department of Students Welfare (DSW) & Career Counseling Center by Ms. Ismat Shereen, Adviser of DSW. Professor Dr. Farzana Akhter, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, and Professor Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration, delivered remarks welcoming the students and highlighting the academic standards they are expected to uphold. To ensure students are well-versed in university regulations and safety, Dr. Anisur Rahman, Proctor of EWU and Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, presented the ‘EWU Code of Conduct.’ This was followed by a crucial session on the ‘EWU Sexual Harassment Elimination & Prevention Policy’ conducted by Dr. Fouzia Mannan, Chairperson and Professor of the Department of Sociology. Recognizing the importance of holistic well-being, Mr. Md. Rukonuzzaman, Socio-Psyche Counsellor, shared insights on mental health awareness. The afternoon session was held for the newcomers of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. While the core components of the program remained the same, Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences & Engineering, addressed the students, welcoming them to the technical and scientific community of the university.

Both sessions were presided over by the Program Chair, Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, who encouraged students to make the most of the diverse resources provided by the university. The orientation concluded with an inspiring address by the Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and founder Vice Chancellor of EWU. He emphasized the university's commitment to nurturing skilled, ethical leaders and urged the freshers to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress during their journey at East West University.

Adding vibrancy to the day, the Department of Student Welfare of EWU organized a colorful Club Fair to showcase 23 student-run clubs. Each club set up stalls to display their activities and initiatives, encouraging freshers to get involved in co-curricular engagements alongside their academic journey.
