EWUCRT Arranges Seminar on EEG-Driven Framework for Student Mental Health Resilience

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) hosted a research seminar titled “Towards Mental Health Resilience: A Psychophysics-Driven EEG Framework for Early Detection and Risk Stratification of Anxiety and Depression in East West University Students.” The event took place at the EWUCRT Seminar Room on 2 April 2026.

The seminar presented findings from a collaborative study conducted by a team of experts from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at EWU, including Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Rifat Ahmmad Rashid, Professor Dr. Shamim H. Ripon, and Associate Professor Dr. Raihan Ul Islam. On behalf of the research team, Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza delivered the keynote presentation, explaining how EEG frameworks and psychophysics can be applied to the early identification of anxiety and depression among university students.

Dr. Bipasha Singha, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Dhaka, served as the formal discussant. The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU and Chairperson of EWUCRT. The program began with welcome remarks from Professor Dr. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of EWUCRT, who highlighted the research topic and introduced the keynote presenter.

The seminar was attended by Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU, along with faculty members, EWUCRT officials, and students. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where participants discussed the technical aspects of implementing neurotechnology in mental health screening.
