EWUCRT Hosts Seminar on Male Victims of Intimate Partner Violence

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized a research seminar focusing on a critical and often overlooked social issue: "Men’s Experiences of Female Perpetrated Intimate Partner Violence in Bangladesh." The seminar took place at the EWUCRT Seminar Room of East West University (EWU) on 30 October 2025.

The research proposal, which delves into the nuanced experiences of men facing violence from female partners, was presented by Dr. Anisur Rahman Khan, Associate Professor, and Dr. Rasel Hussain, Assistant Professor, from the Department of Sociology, EWU. Their presentation shed light on the scope and methodology of their upcoming research, aiming to contribute significant insights to existing literature on intimate partner violence. Dr. Mumita Tanjeela, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, EWU, served as the key discussant, offering insightful critiques and valuable perspectives that enriched the academic discourse.

The event was chaired by Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Chairperson of EWUCRT, who concluded the session by emphasizing the profound importance and timely relevance of the research topic. Earlier in the seminar, Professor Dr. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of EWUCRT, delivered the welcome remarks, setting a scholarly tone for the discussion and highlighting EWUCRT's commitment to fostering impactful research. The seminar concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, allowing attendees to interact with the presenters and discussants, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas.

The event saw a notable attendance from various members of the university community, including Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik,  Pro Vice Chancellor, Air Cdre (retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, faculty members, EWU students, and officials from EWUCRT, underscoring the academic community's interest in this vital area of research.
