Orientation Program for New Faculty Members

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of East West University (EWU) organized a day-long Orientation Program on 18 September 2026 for the newly appointed faculty members who joined in the Fall 2026 semester. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor of EWU attended the program.
The orientation program began with a welcome address by the Additional Director of IQAC, Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, who also introduced the new faculty members to the distinguished guests.
Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU congratulated the newly recruited faculty members. He emphasized the importance of excellence in teaching, impactful research, professional development, academic integrity, student mentoring, and meaningful contributions to the University and society.
Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor of EWU, also congratulated the new faculty members and encouraged them to conduct quality research, uphold academic values, and contribute actively to the continued growth and development of the University.
Professor Dr. Anup Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, and Professor Dr. Fouzia Mannan, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences led a panel discussion that addressed the academic policies, code of conduct, service rules, promotion procedure, research culture, Research culture, quality publications, grants, collaboration, research ethics, AI in research and publications, and effective teaching learning methods, Faculty responsibilities, collegiality, university service, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, leadership, career development. The participants enthusiastically participated in an interactive Q&A session.
In the second session, Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, and Additional Director, IQAC, EWU conducted a session on “Outcomes-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL)”. Professor Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Chairperson, Department of Business Administration, and Dr. Anisur Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Proctor at EWU shared their expertise on “Teaching as a Career: Planning, Survival and Growing” and “Code of Conduct and Ethical Behavior in the Examinations Hall” with the participants.
A total of twenty six new faculty members from various departments attended the orientation program. Ms. Proma Paromita Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics anchored the program. Chairpersons of academic department also present at the inaugural session. With a vote of gratitude, Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, Additional Director of IQAC concluded the program.
