May 15, 2025

The Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW) and Career Counselling Centre (CCC) of East West University (EWU), in collaboration with Shomvob Jobs, organised a ‘Workshop on CV Writing and Interview Techniques’ on 08 May, 2025, at the S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery (room 126). The event was conducted by Mr Md Ashikuzzaman, Soft Skill Trainer & Associate Partner, Shomvob Jobs,
Mr Ashikuzzaman delivered his speech on the important aspects of CVs and how to write effective forwarding letters that employers expect from job seekers. He discussed the intricacies of professional CV writing that job seekers should not approach carelessly, as this could lead to rejection by employers. He emphasized that a formal photograph should be included, and that experiences from extra-curricular activities should be highlighted alongside academic achievements. Also, all documents should be checked before submitting to an organisation to avoid errors that could undermine their professionalism.
In the second part of his speech, he explained the techniques for successfully facing a job interview. He described the psychometric assessments that recruiters are applying currently to measure a range of skills, cognitive abilities, and knowledge to assess personality. He further discussed the proper dress code for the job interviewee.
The program ended with a Q&A session. A significant number of students participated in the workshop. They appreciated the initiative of CCC for organising such career development programs for students. In the feedback forms, they requested that CCC arrange more programs to prepare the students to compete in the job market.
EWU’s dedication and commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals were reflected in the event as the aim involved Quality Education (SDG4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG8).
