TWO-DAY WORKSHOP ON “ROBOTICS & INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)”

Nov 02, 2022

East West University Robotics Club (EWURC) successfully arranged a workshop on “ROBOTICS & INTERNET of THINGS (IoT)” in association with Robo Tech Valley, where the beginners got the opportunity to develop their Robo-skill. The workshop held on the 21st and 28th of October 2022. The duration of this advanced Robo-build workshop was 12 hours. The workshop got a huge response from the students who are determined to learn new skills regarding Robotics and IoT. As the seats were limited, only 45 participants were able to register for this productive workshop. The instructor of this workshop was Mr. A S M Ahsanul Sarkar Akib (CEO, Robo Tech Valley). On the first day of the session, the students learned about the mechanism of Arduino and basic Robo-soccer. The students themselves tried to build their robo soccer using 3d printed Chassis, motor, motor drive, Bluetooth, and Arduino, and finally operated it with smartphones via Bluetooth. At the end of the day-1 session, a little competition was arranged among all the teams.

In the day 2 session, the students tried to update their robo soccer and do coding for controlling the Robo-soccer with voice commands. After building these voice control robots, the respected moderators of EWURC, Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Mr. Md. Al Imran, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, observed the progress of the students and appreciated their work by providing constructive comments on the Robo soccer and voice control robots. The course trainer Mr. A S M Ahsanul Sarkar Akib was appreciated by our moderators and our moderator Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza handed over a crest showing gratitude to the instructor. In the last segment of the day 2 session, students were introduced to IoT and how it can work in real life. Participants built some IoT projects, these were IoT Home Automation, Agriculture with IoT, etc.

By accomplishing this workshop, students were able to learn and build Robo-soccer, Voice controlling robots. The concept of the internal mechanism of Robotics was overviewed by the instructor hence the students were delighted to learn these things. Students themselves built robots, learned about Arduino, and did the coding on their own. Moreover, this workshop brought students a clear overview of the mechanism of Robo-soccer using Arduino, agricultural development and soil testing with the help of IoT. The students shall be benefited largely by the knowledge gained through this workshop and utilize the knowledge in a greater way which will benefit the nation at large.
